All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware. – Martin Buber

Every journey in life has a secret destination of which we are unaware. Life is a journey. Life is a journey with sharp turns and lots of adventures.

Take for instance the story of the Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. “By every usual standard, I was the biggest failure I knew.” – those are the words of J.K. Rowling – the author whose book series has been translated into 73 languages, sold millions of copies and accrued over $20 billion through movie adaptations and sponsorships.

Things did not go as she planned. Her life is full of twists and turns.

Not only did she fail to make progress on her first book, but after falling in, and then she ended up with a failed marriage and a baby daughter she now had to raise alone. She came back to nothing.

She had no job, no finished product and two mouths to feed. She had hit rock bottom. As she struggled with depression, raising a child on her own and living off meager unemployment benefits, she resumed work on her book in cafes while her daughter was asleep.

Despite numerous setbacks, she found solace in doing what she loved – writing.

When Rowling finally finished the first three chapters, she sent the manuscript off to a publisher – They quickly passed on the project. She sent it to another publisher. Again, the answer was no. Her mailbox filled up with rejection letters, but she didn’t let it stop her.

And finally, life had a pleasant surprise for her. The success of today’s Harry Potter – a household name. A magician’s dream come true.

Then there is Michael Schumacher.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers ever and regarded by some as the greatest of all time, Schumacher is the only driver in history to win seven Formula One World Championships, five of which he won consecutively.

The most successful driver in the history of the sport, Schumacher holds the records for the most World Championship titles (7), the most Grand Prix wins (91), the most fastest laps (77) and the most races won in a single season (13), and according to the official Formula One website (, Schumacher was “statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen” at the time of his retirement from the sport.

He suffered a severe head injury and was left in a coma for six months following an accident more than five years ago.

In December 2013 the racing legend was skiing off-piste at the Meribel ski resort in France when he fell at a relatively low speed and hit his head on a rock.

Schumacher was rushed to the hospital and put in a medically reduced coma until June 14, 2014 – and is said to have been ‘lucky to survive’ the tragic fall.

For years now he is confined to his home away from public eyes and media glare. He can now barely walk. His fight is still on. And we are unaware of which destination his journey of life will take him.

Life is full of adventures, numerous ups, and downs, twists, and turns which we can never predict beforehand.

And we don’t know where we all are going. We can’t predict when we shall die. We can’t predict tomorrow it will rain or shine. Where we will end up, tomorrow or after years or at the fag end of life!

The only thing that’s confirmed in life is – we all will die. Rest all are not known to us.

There are lots of time when we get a certain opportunity and life takes a U-turn. At times we are back to square one, at times we turn a new leaf in life.

We keep on building the relationships! But we can’t guarantee that all of them will sustain. We don’t know how each and every relationship will end when we were building those relationships.

Some marriages make a Happy Home, some breaks hearts and ruins life.

A fatal accident at times changes entire dynamics of life. Sometimes, a disease changes the entire way we look at life. We really don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, even the next moment.

So, there’s nothing called security or safety in life. Though many of us run for security and safety in life it’s just a Mental blockage.

We don’t know about our destination – the moments and events waiting for us at every turn of our life.

Every life is different and so every destination of life is. And, we can only realize the final destination at the end of our life.

So, there’s nothing called the right time and right situation. Don’t ever try to make the mistake of waiting for the perfect perfect moment in your life when you can make the right moves.

Rather, we all should make out today the best day with all the resources we have. Whatever we have, we have enough.

Let’s not try to predict life – rather enjoy it every day and be ready for tomorrow. Only this way you get an opportunity to make your yesterday a great memory which can be cherished when you look back.

When you don’t know tomorrow what will happen, and you can’t control what has happened yesterday, it’s probably the best decision to enjoy today and make today a beautiful yesterday.

Let the secret destinations of the journey of life be secret and let every day be an adventure. This will make our life more enjoyable.
