You will see, whenever the word Achievement comes, you will always relate it with some great accomplishments, some big jumps or some super powerful things which you got, which you once felt were impossible. But, the fact is only those are not achievements. Achievement is something which is happening always. Sometimes, you achieve what you want and sometimes you achieve what you don’t want. We tend to name those which we got but don’t want as NonAchievement. But those are achievements too.
So, the fact is, you are always achieving. Always. Maybe you are not aware of it. You only use the word achievement when it’s a result which you wanted and you don’t consider those results you got you never wanted want as an achievement. But the reality is whether you wanted or not, whatever you name it, those are your achievements too. Achievement is always there. The difference in what you achieved lies in your actions, your strategies, and your thoughts.
So, Achieving what you want has three components – Actions Strategies and Thoughts.
And the best part is, all these three belongs to you. It’s Your Strategies, Your Actions, and Your Thoughts.
Let’s understand this with an example.
At the age of 40, a man working as Vice President of Marketing for a corporate, while listening to a rock band, mentally went back to his college days. He started remembering those fun-filled days. He used to play guitar and always wanted to be in a rock band. In fact, during college days, he and his friends created a small band as well. He started thinking how Exciting the life would have been if he would have continued with the rock band. He asked himself – “ I am a vice president. I take care of a big part of what an organization wants and I am successfully doing that for years. Why can’t I take care of what I want?” and an inner reply came “ Well, it’s too late for the same. Losing this position won’t be a good idea as of now. Taking care of family expenses, paying installments of Mortgage and Car, paying son’s school fees,….. Probably, it’s not worth.” And he is back to the role of Vice President again. FULL STOP.
So, in this case, the man knows what exactly he wanted. He knows how a band operates, he might be knowing how to practice playing guitar for a rock band, He might be the so-called Right person to be in a rock band probably. But, he thought it’s not worth. So, its His Thoughts, which stopped him from being what he wanted to be. And this thought came from his strategies to manage his living and maintaining his current status. Hence, if you want to achieve something, Your Strategies, Your Thoughts and Your Actions – all should be ready to achieve that. Else, you will again achieve what you don’t want and name it nonachievement.
